New House of Remembrance for KZ Gusen II (Bergkristall)

October 25th, 2020

A new "House of Remembrance" was opened on October 25, 2020 in front of the former KZ Gusen II "Bergkristall" underground Messerschmitt plant at St. Georgen/Gusen to to remind future generations that this was one of the most cruel "concentration" camps in Nazi Germany - it was called "The Ninth Circle of Hell" by its few survivors.

The House of Remembrance is a project by The Mauthausen-Gusen-St. Georgen Region of Awareness and was built with many hours of volunteer work by people from the local communities of St. Georgen, Langenstein and Mauthausen.
